The Battle of Brandywine is the largest single-day engagement of the American Revolution.
On September 11, 1777, the Continental Army under General George Washington faced British forces led by Sir William Howe near Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.
A flanking march broke the American line, leading to a British victory and the fall of Philadelphia.
