Following the expiry of the original deadline, the buyers of Crebilly Farm in Chester County have been granted an additional year by the owner — the Robinson Family — and Westtown Township to achieve funding, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.

The new deadline is March 31, 2024. Natural Lands conservancy is hoping to preserve the acreage because Battle of Brandywine participants most likely marched across the farmland.

Natural Lands and the township have so far collected around $20 million of the approximate $25 million cost for the farm. The funds were collected through grants, private donations, and a voter referendum.

The eastern two-thirds of the 206-acre park cost $20.6 million, or $100,000 per acre. A separate agreement for conservation easements across four parcels that total around 100 acres on the western third of the property comes with a price tag of $4.3 million. Those parcels will remain as private property but will be preserved and protected from future development.

Chester County has so far contributed $2.15 million toward the easements. Westtown Township will provide the other half of the funding.
