While it is best known for its history, Chadds Ford has much more to offer if you are planning a day trip, from walking trails to gourmet cuisine and its many museums, writes Sophie Tegenu for Main Line Today.

Start the day at Nudy’s Cafe, a diner located right in the heart of town. This place is guaranteed to satisfy even the sweetest tooth.

Follow a hearty breakfast with a walk through nature on the Harvey Run Trail. This five-mile trail will take you to Brandywine Creek, where you can enjoy the scenic views.

If you like history, tour the site of the Battle of Brandywine at Brandywine Battlefield Park or explore the historical Sanderson Museum, dedicated to Christian C. Sanderson, the 19th-century natural historian and collector.

Stop for lunch at The Gables at Chadds Ford, which offers sumptuous meals with Southern flair.

Other must-visit spots include the Pennsbury-Chadds Ford Antique Mall, the Brandywine River Museum of Art, and the Chadds Ford Barn Shops.

Finally if you are hungry after an active day, dine at Brandywine Prime and then bed down at the Brandywine River Hotel.
