Phoenixville resident Laurie Brubaker has been named president of Aetna’s Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia operations, where Aetna provides health benefits to more than 1.8 million people.

Brubaker has worked at Aetna for 25 years, most recently as Aetna’s chief culture officer, promoting efforts to drive transformational culture change in the organization. In her new role, Brubaker will be responsible for sales, service, network, medical economics, quality improvement and customer and broker relationships in the three-state area.

“This is a time of transformational changes in the health care industry,” said Kim Keck, head of Aetna’s northeast region. “We are fortunate to have experienced and agile leaders like Laurie to help us forge a new path to profitable growth by leveraging the strength of our organization.”

Brubaker joined Aetna in 1988. The company calls her executive career in heading customer service “distinguished.” She has led Aetna’s pharmacy; disability and behavioral health; and individual/consumer and Medicare organizations.

In 2008 Pink Magazine named Brubaker one of the Top 15 Women in Business. She also was named one of the Top Dallas Women to Watch by the Dallas Business Journal. Brubaker served on the boards of directors of the Pharmacy Care Management Association and the Aetna Foundation.

Aetna has been recognized for identifying and promoting successful women. The National Association of Female Executives picked Aetna as a 2014 Top 50 Company for Executive Women. This is the 15th time Aetna has appeared on the list.

Brubaker holds a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from Moravian College in Bethlehem. She resides with her husband in Phoenixville, and they have two children currently attending college.
