Main Line
The Main Line is a historically significant and affluent region of Philadelphia’s suburbs.
Running northwest from Center City along the former Pennsylvania Railroad’s Main Line, established in the 19th century, this area boasts wealth, beautiful estates, and strong social ties.
Initially a summer retreat for the elite, it transformed into a desirable suburban enclave in the late 1800s.
The Main Line spans 16 communities across Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties, including towns like Gladwyne, Villanova, and Bryn Mawr.
Renowned for its picturesque landscapes and excellent schools, it’s well-connected to Philadelphia by SEPTA, Amtrak, and major roads, including the Schuylkill Expressway and the Blue Route.
