Anyone looking to live in an area that showcases the natural charm and beauty unique to Chester County should look no further than Upper Uwchlan and Uwchlan Township, writes Alan J. Heavens for Philly.com.

Both townships offer primarily single-family detached houses, mostly built in the 1970s and 1980s in a Colonial style, with four bedrooms and two and a half baths situated on a large lot of land. Anyone looking for an old farmhouse will also not be disappointed.

“There is little difference between the two [townships],” said John Duffy, of Duffy Real Estate.

He added that the most important advantage of both communities is the road system that includes Route 100, Little Conestoga Road, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Most recent buyers are younger people with families who are moving west from the Main Line and looking for a bigger house at a reasonable price. The area also has other benefits such as fishing and ice skating on Marsh Creek Lake.

“With just 12,000 people and schools in the Downingtown Area School District, it has a lot of things going for it,” said Duffy.
