Local Career Coach Contributes Chapter to New Book for Job Seekers

By

Lynne Williams, a 1976 graduate of Conestoga High School, is one of 16 career coaches from around the country who have contributed a chapter to a new book, entitled Find Your Fit: A Practical Guide to Landing the Job You Love, that helps people master the internet age of job searching.

The book is published by the Association of Talent Development in Alexandria, Va.

Williams, Director of the Philadelphia Area Great Careers Group on Meetup, tirelessly volunteers in the local career transition community. Her full-time job includes helping millennials starting their first jobs, boomers downsizing, and everyone in between.

“Not only is this book an excellent resource for job seekers, but also for those who are employed and need to ensure all their career documents are up to date,” said Williams. “In other words, it’s appropriate for career transition, as well as career management, for people of all ages.”

Most of Williams’s time is spent moderating networking meetings along the Main Line, and teaching LinkedIn and other workshops locally at Chester and Delaware county libraries, Chambers of Commerce, universities, and for other groups and organizations.

Her contribution to Find Your Fit can be traced to an article she wrote on the Applicant Tracking System for the Association of Talent Development, which it published for its international audience.

“This article has been one of the most viewed on our blog this year,” said Sue Kaiden, editor of Find Your Fit. “The detailed content is an excellent resource for anyone who is trying to apply to positions online, and wondering why they’re not getting a response.”

The article was subsequently expanded to become Chapter Eight of the book, which includes information on the hidden job market, salary, applying for jobs online through the Applicant Tracking System, cover letters, and more.
