Doylestown Hospital Listed Among Nation’s Best for Safety, Patient Experience

Penn Medicine Doylestown Health earned a spot in the top five percent of hospitals in the country for safety and patient experience.

Penn Medicine Doylestown Health has earned a spot in the top five percent of hospitals in the country for safety and patient experience, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

According to a new Healthgrades report, 438 hospitals across 40 states earned the 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Award, which puts them in the top 10 percent nationwide for patient safety.

The Doylestown hospital also came in the top half of that group, which puts it in the top five percent.

Based on federal hospital data, the Patient Safety Excellence Award measures how well hospitals safeguard patients from serious complications during inpatient care.

Healthgrades analyzed 13 indicators of patient safety, including infections, surgical complications, and other preventable conditions.

To earn the award, hospitals were required to meet rigorous quality standards and perform well across the majority of safety measures analyzed.

Patients at award-winning facilities faced a substantially lower risk of the four most common safety errors, including in-hospital falls with fractures (52.4 percent less likely), procedure- or surgery-related collapsed lungs (57.5 percent less likely), catheter-related bloodstream infections (67.8 percent less likely), and pressure or bed sores (71.9 percent less likely).
