Doylestown-based Aprea Therapeutics has named Eugene Kennedy, MD, as chief medical advisor, adding a seasoned leader in oncology drug development to its executive team.
Aprea is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company advancing innovative therapies targeting cancer-specific vulnerabilities while minimizing damage to healthy cells. Kennedy joins after early clinical proof-of-concept was demonstrated for the WEE1 inhibitor APR-1051 in patients with advanced solid tumors in an ongoing Phase 1 dose-escalation study.
With over two decades of experience, Kennedy is a physician-scientist and biopharmaceutical executive whose background includes oncology clinical development, regulatory strategy, and senior corporate leadership in both public and private biotechnology companies.
The company believes this will reinforce Aprea’s clinical leadership as it moves dose-escalation forward and refines patient selection for the WEE1-focused DNA damage response program.
“His track record in leading and advancing complex oncology programs, working closely with regulators, and supporting data-driven decisions will be invaluable as we build on our recent early clinical proof-of-concept, optimize dose and patient selection in our WEE1 program, and advance our DDR pipeline toward key clinical and regulatory milestones,” said Oren Gilad, PhD, CEO of Aprea.
Kennedy serves as chief medical officer at Percheron Therapeutics, following prior roles as chief medical officer at Carisma Therapeutics, Galera Therapeutics, and Innovative Cellular Therapeutics.
