Investigation into Chester County Poll Book Error Concludes, Results Forthcoming

The investigation into a Chester County poll book error by Fleck Eckert Klein has concluded, with public release of the results coming soon.

The investigation into the error that resulted in 70,000 third-party voters in Chester County being omitted from poll books during last fall’s general election has been completed by West Chester-based law firm Fleck Eckert Klein McGarry, writes Kenny Cooper for WHYY

The county received the final report from the firm on Dec. 19, and it is now under review by senior officials.

“We are actively working to develop a plan to prevent the recurrence of any similar errors in the future,” said David Byerman, chief executive officer of Chester County, during the board of commissioners meeting earlier this week.

However, he did not reveal the cause of the error yet.

Fleck Eckert Klein McGarry will present the findings to the public during a public meeting that has already been scheduled by the Chester County Board of Elections for Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 7 PM.

“The firm’s investigation consisted of an extensive research and interview process to identify the specific cause of the error and to examine any related issues,” said Byerman. “I would like to say we appreciate the professionalism and the expeditious nature in which this firm conducted this investigation.”
