Gluten-Free Dining Comes to Wayne in the Form of Burtons Grill & Bar

Boston-based Burtons Grill & Bar is elevating Wayne’s restaurant scene with an upscale gluten-free menu.

Wayne’s old Chili’s, which sat vacant on Lancaster Avenue, has recently started a second life, writes Anne E. Hill for Main Line Today

The prime restaurant space is now occupied by Burtons Grill & Bar, a gluten-free friendly eatery with a comprehensive menu that shows off its Boston roots.

Restaurateur Kevin Harron, who has celiac disease, wanted to create a high-end dining experience that catered to those with food allergies and dietary restrictions.

Burtons currently has 23 chain locations, with the Wayne location being the first in Pennsylvania. It’s been an immediate success.

The menu features several recognizable dishes, all safe and delicious for gluten-free diners.

“When we make a distinction in the kitchen for the chef, it’s mostly so that they know how to handle the product in terms of cross contamination, making sure they’re using the right cutting board and knives, cooking it in the right fryer or the right spot on the grill,” said Shane Crowe, Burtons field training administrator.

Their expansive gluten-free menu includes popular meals, such as buffalo chicken dip, southwest chicken salad, steak frites, chicken piccata, and fresh seafood dishes like lobster roll and crab cakes.
