Plans to build a new 5,330-square-foot Wawa with 16 gas pumps at Parkway Shopping Center have hit a major roadblock after West Goshen supervisors unanimously voted to deny its conditional-use application, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News

Wawa will likely appeal the board’s decision, said township solicitor Kristen Camp during last week’s supervisor’s meeting. Chair of the West Goshen Board of Supervisors Ashley Gagne added that the appeal will most likely happen soon.

“As with every conditional use application that comes before our board, the applicant is required to prove compliance with certain standards set forth in our township code,” said Gagne after the meeting. “In this case, our Board concluded that Wawa did not meet those standards, and therefore we denied the application.”

Township supervisors determined based on findings of fact and conclusions of law that traffic issues and pedestrian access related to the project were unsafe and inconvenient. They had also discussed access from Route 202 onto High Street as potentially being unsafe.

“The board has a responsibility to uphold the law and to ensure that our code is adhered to by all applicants,” said Gagne.
