Every new year, goals are set and hoped to be achieved, with many planning to drink less or get rid of alcohol altogether. In a culture surrounded by socialization via drinking, it can be a hard goal to accomplish. Dry January is one of the target goals that may have been difficult but with spirit-free beverages becoming more popular, it can still be an enjoyable experience, writes Patrica Cobe for Restaurant Business.

As younger generations like Gen Z reach the drinking age, studies have found that while fewer are partaking in it, they also seek out options like zero-proof alcohol and “mocktails.”

To continue furthering its reach, Iron Hill Brewery in Exton is one of many breweries now offering these spirit-free beverages. For example, they released Hop Water last year, a sparkling beverage with zero alcohol that contains 6 different kinds of hops. They’re adding the water to Hop-Tails, a permanent zero-proof option on their menu.

Other items include the Hop Lux, which is made with marasca cherries and Luxardo syrup, and White Grape Basil made with white grapes, ginger ale, basil, and lime juice. Its Hop-Jito — an alcohol-less mojito — was also added.

Thanks to changing demographics, more companies are realizing that money can made by creating delicious zero-proof drinks.
