Local band Mt. Joy got its start playing at coffee shops in the area, but slowly made their way to playing at festivals like Lollapalooza and more.

For Matt Quinn and Sam Cooper, Conestoga High School graduates and two-fifths of Mt. Joy, the climb to the top of their musical mountain was more of a “gradual” than a “rocket ship” journey, writes Alexandra Schonfeld for People

The two musicians have known each other since childhood. When they were young adults, they decided to give music a real go, after one of their first songs, Astrivan, took off.

“I remember at that point Matt called me and was like, ‘The song is doing things. Should we try it? Do you want to be a part of this? Should we actually do this?’” said Cooper. “And I was like, ‘Yes, let’s do it.’”

Since they released the first successful song, Mt. Joy has toured both the country and the world. Over the years, they have also met some people they never expected to meet, like Dave Matthews

“I would say that relationship and similar relationships are the ones where I’m like, ‘How did we get here?'” said Quinn.

For their current tour, they partnered with Fender to provide fans with a behind-the-scenes look through the On the Road series.
