Popular Band Got Its Start Locally, Once Playing Shows at Gryphon Cafe in Wayne
Mt. Joy, which got its start playing locations like Gryphon Cafe in Wayne, is returning to the Philadelphia area on Sept. 10 to headline a show at Skyline Stage in Mann Music Center, writes Nick McIlwain for 93.3 WMMR.
The popular indie rock band’s lead vocalist Matt Quinn and lead guitarist Sam Cooper met while both were at Conestoga High School in Berwyn.
After graduating, “we just kind of kept in touch,” said Cooper.
They were sending each other songs in college and once they both ended up in Los Angeles, they published one of their songs on Spotify. It did well, prompting them to form Mt. Joy with a total of five band members.
The band recently released their third album, Orange Blood.
