Malvern-based Vanguard Group has decided to close its financial planning arm in the United Kingdom less than two years after being launched, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal. 

Clients of Vanguard UK Personal Investor, Vanguard’s platform for retail investors in the UK, have Vanguard Personal Financial Planning, a retirement planning service, available as an add on. The service was launched in April 2021, but it did not attract enough customers who were searching for improved and specialized planning solutions for their retirement. 

“We launched the service for clients of our existing UK self-directed platform with specialized retirement needs,” said Vanguard. “However, after careful consideration, we have concluded that our clients are looking for other, more adaptable forms of help from Vanguard.”
