Berwyn Fire Company purchased the Tredyffrin property for its upcoming substation.

Berwyn Fire company’s expansion is heating up! Tredyffrin township approved its $1.8 purchase of a property owned by Boy Scouts of America, writes Holly Herman for The Patch.

This space will be used for its substation to provide faster service to Chesterbrook, Glenhardie and the Swedesford Road corridor.

The fire company plans to use the space at 1485 Valley Forge Road within the next few months.

In addition to the substation, Berwyn Fire Co. also is planning to reconstruct their post on Bridge Avenue, replacing their 93-year-old station. It’s part of an $8 million project.

Berwyn Fire company president Thomas Torreson said he requested funding from Tredyffrin and Easttown townships to fund 10 full-time employees. Chief financial officer Joseph DiRocco said that the fire company will receive an additional $500,000 in state funding for volunteers, fuel, firefighting gear and maintenance.
