While its Willing Hearts Capital Campaign continues to make progress toward reaching its $2.5 million goal, Fame Fire Company No. 3 of the West Chester Fire Department still needs the public’s help to retire the $750,000 loan it took out in 2021 to make the much-anticipated improvements operational.

The completed renovations/expansion have created a safer and more efficient environment for Fame’s firefighters and are, therefore, helping to make the community safer. As they near the end of their eight-year capital campaign, Fame and its dedicated volunteers are asking for additional donations that will help them retire their debt and finish the campaign.

Here’s where Fame Fire Company stands with its capital campaign and why it still needs your help:

• Of the original $2.5 million campaign for Phases One and Two, Fame is excited to have raised $2 million so far. This includes taking a loan to make the renovations/expansion operational now.
• Considering all current gifts and projected sources of revenue for the campaign, Fame still faces the task of raising $500,000 to relieve its membership of the burden of paying off any capital debt in the future. 
• Fame is making additional facility and grounds improvements, which will be covered by the $1.25 million RACP (Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program) grant awarded recently from the state. Unfortunately, these grant funds cannot be used to pay for work already completed.

If you can find a way to make a generous contribution, you will help free up Fame’s active members to focus on training and serving the community and not fundraising. A significant gift now, a pledge over three or five years, or including Fame Fire Company in your estate plan will enable it to launch a new, debt-free era.
