2022 VISTA Millennial Superstars: Christopher Mazza

By

Christopher Mazza, a native of Long Island who grew up in Monmouth County, N.J., is the owner and principal broker of Franklin Flood, Central Penn Insurance Agency, and Keystone Insurance Associates.

“The best part of my job is that every day brings something new, and you never know what will be on the other end of the phone when you pick up,” said Mazza. “In our industry, one call or e-mail can change the entire course of the day, and we need to be ready to shift course at a moment’s notice.”

Mazza, who began working when he was nine years old, sweeping the floors of his father’s electrical contracting office in Manhattan, earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University.

He credits author James Maguire for having the biggest impact on his career.

“He titled his 2012 autobiography Just Show Up Every Day,” Mazza said about Maguire. “This phrase has always been at the forefront of my mind. Sometimes people in the business world will paint this elaborate picture of how they achieved success, but for James Maguire to simplify it to showing up and coming to work every day, ready and able to work, really helped me stay the course, especially early on in my career.”

His proudest professional achievement is purchasing Franklin Flood in 2021.

“I immediately knew that we had the potential for something greater as a company,” said Mazza. “Our loss ratio was far below the industry average, and I didn’t feel we were being adequately compensated by our carriers for this. About a year ago, we approached Lloyd’s of London (insurance company) with our situation. Normally, becoming a coverholder at Lloyd’s can take up to two years in a non-pandemic world, and most people get turned away.

“After a year of virtual meetings, we have officially been stamped a coverholder at Lloyd’s and are about to release our own flood insurance product — fully underwritten by Franklin Flood and backed by Lloyd’s of London.”

Mazza’s favorite Chester County restaurant?

“Anything Italian,” he said. “IL Granaio in Phoenixville, Sal’s Pizza in Exton, and Limoncello in Chester Springs are a few of them.”

Mazza and the rest of the 2022 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration held outdoors on Tuesday, May 10 at Penn State Great Valley. The in-person event will feature food trucks, drinks, touchless registration, a VIP tent, and boundless opportunities to network. It will also be live-streamed.

Sponsors are still being sought. Click here to learn more about the various opportunities available to partner with VISTA Today as it celebrates Chester County’s next generation of leaders.
