Rylie Heflin, an Avondale resident and senior at Tower Hill School in Greenville, Del., had another fantastic performance at the recent DIAA (Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association) Golf Tournament, writes Brad Myers for the Wilmington News Journal.

The golfer continued her amazing, five-year stretch in the tournament by once again placing second.

Heflin, who will continue her athletic career at Duke University, debuted at the tournament in 2017 as an eighth-grader, when she tied for eighth place.

The next year, she shot herself to fourth place, and her 2019 finale had her at second.

COVID-19 canceled the 2020 edition, but this year, she rallied to another second-place finish. She carded an even-par second round and posted a final score of 143.

“I was proud of the way I played today,” said Heflin. “I battled back and was able to fight. I stayed confident and just trusted my swing.”

More importantly, she led Tower Hill to another team championship.

“It feels amazing,” she said. “Our team is really, really together. We worked really hard this year, and I’m really proud of our team.”
