Sicilian-born Danny Fiorello and his mother, Ninfa, have been serving up the delicious tastes of Italy at Fiorello’s Café in West Chester for more than two decades, writes Tamala Edwards for 6ABC.

“We have some of the modern Italian, but we also keep the old-world cuisine,” said Danny.

Most of the recipes used to make the restaurant’s delicious meals have been passed down through the family for generations.

“It’s the typical food everybody eats in the area where we’re from in Sicily,” said Danny.

Some of the dishes are his mother’s recipes, such as the chicken rollatini. And while Danny is the official chef at the restaurant, he gladly admits that his mother helps him in making some of the traditional meals, such as the pasta fagioli.

“They love her cooking, the flavors,” he said.

His mother also does most of the prep work.

In fact, Danny hopes everybody feels like family at the restaurant, where Mama serves up many of the meals.

“She does it for fun now,” he said. “It’s not even about work. And it keeps her happy.”
