Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Opens at Historic Site of Farmer in the Dell

Chester and Delaware county residents of a certain age may remember the Farmer in the Dell, a family restaurant located on Route 202, between West Chester and Chadds Ford, in a small area known as Dilworthtown.
The site of the long-defunct Farmer in the Dell is once again home to a full-service restaurant.

On Tuesday, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened at that historic location, 1302 Wilmington Pike, across from Penn Oaks Golf Club. It marks a second Pennsylvania location for the fast-casual restaurant concept, which made its area debut in 2012 in Broomall.

“The Wilmington Pike retail corridor is a family-friendly area that we felt was a great fit for Freddy’s,” said Steve DiMarco, franchise owner.
“You’ll find that our team members truly enjoy putting in the extra effort to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for guests with fast, friendly service and genuine hospitality.”
The 3,200-square-foot, freestanding restaurant seats 100 guests. Drive-thru service is also available. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday 10:30 AM to 10 PM and Friday and Saturday 10:30 AM to 11 PM.
Freddy’s is known for its lean ground beef steakburgers, Vienna beef hot dogs, and shoestring fries, as well as dessert treats prepared with premium chocolate or vanilla frozen custard that is freshly-churned throughout the day.
“Guests often inquire about our concretes,” said DiMarco. “It’s a popular option where we blend the custard along with the toppings of your choice. We can also prepare our desserts as sundaes, shakes, and malts. Any order of our freshly-churned frozen custard is the perfect way to end a meal at Freddy’s.”
