Immaculata University President Barbara Lettiere has signed the contract for pre-construction phase and construction phase services for the new Parsons Science Pavilion.

In early June 2021, Immaculata is planning a groundbreaking ceremony, which continues the university’s centennial celebrations. With 90 percent of the funds for the $6.5 million Parsons Science Pavilion campaign raised so far, students will begin using the new building at the start of the fall 2022 semester.

Immaculata’s Parsons Science Pavilion will provide modern laboratory spaces for chemistry and biology students and will be a great complement to the university’s very successful and highly regarded nursing program. The building includes cutting-edge scientific and simulation equipment that allows students to engage with the newest techniques and industry-specific equipment in a small class environment.

“The Parsons Science Pavilion will be a game-changer for all of our science students,” said Lettiere. “Our nursing, biology, and chemistry students will enjoy the labs and equipment they need to succeed in today’s high-tech world.”

Designed by Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates, the 15,592 square feet in the science pavilion will include seven wet labs; PCR/DNA Amplifier machines; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer and Mass Spectrometer in the chemistry labs; and an Anatomage Table for virtual reality anatomy and dissection.

Chester Valley Engineers will serve as the civil engineers; Barry Isett & Associates as structural and “mep” (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineers; and Page Southerland Page as laboratory planning consultants. The general contractor is R.C. Legnini Company of Malvern.
