The Chester County Council, Scouts BSA has received a $40,000 grant from the PHL COVID-19 Fund, a joint venture between the Philadelphia Foundation and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

The PHL COVID-19 Fund rapidly deploys grants and resources to help community organizations navigate near- and long-term challenges and ensure that critical resources remain available for those who need them most.

“The Chester County Council, BSA is honored to have been selected as a recipient of a PHL COVID-19 Fund grant,” said Sarah Ponzio, the Chester County Council’s Director of Development. “We are grateful to all of the contributors for their generosity and support during this time. These funds will help offset the severe financial impact that we have experienced as a result of the current crisis and allow us to further our mission by expanding our capacity to serve young people through local Scouting programs.”

The PHL COVID-19 Fund brings together a diverse coalition of philanthropy, government, and business partners joined together as one unified regional community to complement the work of regional public health officials and expand local capacity to address the pandemic’s effects on our region as efficiently and effectively as possible.

According to the Philadelphia Foundation, “PHL COVID-19 Fund grantees have a demonstrated track record of successfully serving those most at-risk during this crisis. They keep community safety nets – including food pantries and health service – operating, help with preparedness and protection needs like hygiene supplies, and ensure access to accurate, up-to-date information and services.”
