The Boy Scouts from Troop 83 in Lionville helped out the Chester County Food Bank by organizing a drive-thru food donation to assist those who were unable to stock up and those who are currently without a job, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Local News.

“We thought it would be a great idea … to help the food banks bulk up their supply,” said Sarah Newman, whose son Andrew is a Scout.

The troop put the word out about the food drive through friends and social media. Then, the scouts and their parents used a curbside service to pick up the food. Motorists parked their cars, opened their trunks, and Scouts took the items out so that the drivers did not have to leave their vehicles.

The Scouts had managed to collect more than 600 pounds of food.

With the COVID-19 crisis still ongoing, Chester County Food Bank is encouraging residents to donate either online financially or by dropping off food at a local pantry or its Exton warehouse.
