Why Entrepreneurs Want to Be on QVC

With revenue topping $8.8 billion, QVC remains a coveted platform for new businesses to sell their products to a massive audience.

Once declared in trouble thanks to the rise of Amazon and other ecommerce sites, QVC instead has continued to thrive. It now reaches 370 million people worldwide with 14 television networks, six websites, and more than 220 social pages.

One of the retailer’s biggest attractions for entrepreneurs is its ability to take new products and turn them into household names.

The proof: Joy Mangano, from East Meadow, NY, introduced her now-famous Miracle Mop on QVC in 1992. It sold more than 18,000 units in under 30 minutes. By 2000, the self-wringing mop was earning $10 million a year in sales. It was even made into the movie “Joy,” starring Jennifer Lawrence.

And there is Jamie Kern Lima, from Studio City, California, whose IT Cosmetics start-up business became QVC’s largest beauty brand, beginning with a 10-minute spot back in 2010. Her company was later acquired by L’Oréal for $1.2 billion.

Also, co-founders of the electronics company HALO, Garold Miller and Dan Weinstein from Glastonbury, Connecticut, sold 305,000 pocket phone chargers with their first on-air spot, shattering records. Two years later, they topped themselves, moving 380,000 chargers in one day for $19 million in sales. In 2019, they sold HALO for $43 million.

Even throughout the current quarantine, QVC hasn’t missed a beat in bringing shoppers new products that may become the next big brands.

In February and March, the retailer highlighted the winners of The Big Find, a QVC and HSN nationwide competition dedicated to discovering new entrepreneurs.

And just this May, One Fresh Pillow, a start-up, subscription pillow company, debuted. Co-founder Adrianne Kautz, of Tallahassee, Fl., says of selling with the retailer: “It’s the biggest national coverage. The publicity and opportunity are huge!”

Whether you’re just getting started or already have a brand with buzz, earning a spot on QVC is guaranteed to take your company to the next level in terms of both sales and exposure. Find out more at corporate.qvc.com/lp/vendors/.
