West Chester Siblings Launch Fundraiser to ‘Help Other People Eat’ During Pandemic
Siblings Alyssa and Will Aprahamian of West Chester have launched the H.O.P.E. campaign in Chester County to help feed others in the community who are in need during the coronavirus pandemic, writes Ashley Johnson for 6ABC.
“We were thinking, ‘What can we do to help our community?’” said Will, a freshman at Malvern Prep.
The high schoolers have been selling “H.O.P.E.” lawn signs for $15, with all the proceeds going to the Chester County Food Bank.
“People need a lot of hope during this time, so we thought it was a good acronym and hope has a lot of meaning,” said Alyssa, a senior at Villa Maria Academy.
The acronym stands for Help Other People Eat, and the campaign that began two weeks ago has been a resounding success. Now, when people donate to the campaign, they can show they donated with a sign in their yard. So far, the campaign has sold more than 150 signs.
“It feels good to us, too, because we don’t have a lot to do, it’s good to keep our time occupied, and it’s definitely a good feeling to know we’re helping those who need it,” said Alyssa.
