Pillar Real Estate Advisors, a full-service commercial real estate agency based in West Chester, recently brokered the sale of the industrial warehouse and cold-storage facility that spans 134,000 square feet of space on 10 acres at 700 Fern Hill Road in West Chester.
Pillar represented the seller in this transaction. The buyer, a national developer of self-storage facilities, will be investing substantial resources as part of its reconfiguration of the building and site.
“Pillar Real Estate Advisors, through our partnership with Global Food Properties, is proud to have facilitated this sale,” said Eric Kuhn of Pillar. “It represents the next chapter in a property that has played a major role in the region’s commercial economic landscape since 1975.”
The facility is the original home of Steak-Umm, the brand of thin-sliced frozen steaks used to make cheesesteaks at home. It later served as a major production point for Ore-Ida potato products under the ownership of H.J. Heinz Company.
The facility was most recently occupied by Hain Celestial Foods. Having produced everything from frozen dinners to baby food for approximately 15 years, Hain Celestial Foods ceased operations in the spring of 2018.
