During a recent meeting on the proposed new zoning for Devon Center, the Easttown Township Planning Commission seemed to favor the equestrian overlay option for the Devon Horse Show & Country Fair grounds and its adjacent properties, writes Linda Stein for the Daily Local News.
The planners heard five possible options for the grounds, but they mostly focused on the possibility of creating a separate equestrian event zone and removing the current underlying residential zoning.
The equestrian use assigned to all the Horse Show properties would provide the most protection for the show, said Planning Chairman Mark Stanish. However, he also wondered how such a scenario would accommodate a possible parking garage.
Member John McCarty agreed that the grounds should be one overall property and said that the Planning Commission should “work toward defining what is the equestrian use.”
However, the Horse Show’s lawyer, Vincent Donohue, said that they would prefer an equestrian overlay that would allow them to build structures as needed for equestrian use, but the Show still needed the underlying zoning so it can borrow money if necessary.
The vote on zoning will be taken at a later date.
