The track, which will surround the Draper Walsh Stadium on campus, is expected to be completed by the start of the 2019-20 academic year.
The track will support Immaculata’s NCAA Division III track and field and cross-country teams, as well as the university’s exercise science programs, providing a venue for cardio endurance testing and clinical rotations.
The track and adjacent areas will be equipped with additional infrastructure, including a water hazard, sand pits, takeoffs, curbs, and drainage.
Immaculata received a grant for this project from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program administered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Additional funding was provided by Cindy Egnotovich, an alumna and member of the university’s board of trustees. Chester Valley Engineers will handle the land planning and construction management.
“It’s my pleasure to be able to support the university and especially the student-athletes,” Egnotovich said. “It was sports that attracted me to Immaculata, so it seems fitting to support future student-athletes.”
