Wellness Wednesday: Balance and Moderation Discovered in a Cup of Almond Milk Latte, Scone

One of my favorite mid morning activities is meeting new people at local coffee shops.  I love to support local businesses and I especially love a good cup of Joe.  But there are so many choices when you walk into a coffee shop, how do you choose the perfect drink that won’t derail your health goals?  I am a big supporter of almond milk lattes these days and I will tell you why.

  1. It tastes delicious!
  2. Almond milk is easy to digest.
  3. Sipping on a frothy almond milk latte fills you up like a snack naturally rich with vitamins and minerals.
  4. Swapping almond milk for whole milk is a better choice for the waistline.
  5. It keeps your heart healthy and your bones strong.

I recently enjoyed the almond milk latte pictured at The Farmhouse Coffee & Espresso Bar in Downingtown. This unique coffee house offers an intimate and cozy atmosphere.  The owners and staff are friendly and pride themselves on being an extension of the community.

If you stop in to grab a cup of coffee, you absolutely must try one of their homemade freshly baked scones.  The chocolate chip is my favorite and my husband loves the apple scone!

You heard that right, my Wellness Wednesday tip is to add a scone to your almond milk latte.  Life is all about balance and moderation…I call it the 80/20 Rule!

Swap out your next whole milk latte for an almond milk latte and write to me and let me know what you think.
