Movement for Heart Health

Exercising regularly can help prevent heart disease – yet with our busy schedules, finding time to move can be challenging.

  1. Go for a Walk
    Walking is a cardiovascular workout that doesn’t require a gym membership. Walk in your neighborhood, at a park or in an indoor shopping center. Bonus points for inviting a friend to join you!
     
  2. Try Group Exercise

Importance of Blood Pressure Screening

In addition to getting regular exercise, it is important to have your blood pressure checked annually. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, often has no symptoms. Yet if left untreated, it can lead to heart disease or stroke. 

That’s why getting your blood pressure checked regularly is important to maintaining a healthy heart. 

YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s President and CEO, Bertram L. Lawson II recently recommitted to his own wellness journey. In addition to following a weekly exercise routine, Bertram took the opportunity to get a free blood pressure and glucose screening, compliments of Keystone First.
