Summer Camp Counselors

Kick-start your career – being a Camp Counselor provides practical and meaningful experience to build your resume.

The YMCA wants enthusiastic leaders to help make a positive impact on its campers this summer. If you love working with kids, playing outside, sports, making crafts, going on field trips, and being a positive role model, this is the job for you! You will get to know our youngest members through activities, lessons, and teaching the core values of the YMCA. Some camps have special themes, such as music, tennis, nature, science, art, photography, theater, crafts, and robotics.

A Camp Counselor position would be great experience for college students majoring in education or recreation.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age or possess a high school diploma or GED.  A minimum of one-year experience working with groups of children is preferred.   Candidates must be able to make a nine-week commitment, while 11 weeks is preferred, and they must be available to attend mandatory camp trainings.

Camp Counselors will be working between 25 hours and 40 hours each week, supervising campers in assigned age groups ranging from Preschoolers to Teenagers. Overall, they must exemplify the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
