West Chester based Star Print & Mail used its recent open house to show its Heidelberg 74 press with coater in action. The high-quality commercial and envelope printing and mailing and fulfillment service firm held the event to welcome around 100 vendors and customers who came from as far as Virginia and Connecticut, and to highlight the working of the six-color, 20×29 inch Speedmaster, writes Printing Impressions.
In addition to the Heidelberg 74, the firm also presented a new inserter for its mailing division, one of its fastest growing business areas, as well as its new Halm Jet envelope press. The company pointed to the future as well, announcing that a new Canon 10000 digital press is coming for the start of 2017, together with a computerized inserter to further strengthen the firm’s mailing operations.
One of the original trailblazing companies established in 1906, Star Print & Mail has been experiencing consistently strong growth under the direction of the Swanson family. The positive growth is reflected by the move the firm recently had to make from its 18,000-square-foot facility to a new 45,000-square-foot two miles away, allowing Star Print & Mail to have the entirety of its warehouse space in one location for its customers.
Co-owner of Star Print & Mail, Al Swanson Sr., recently spoke about the company’s ongoing success and highlighted the very strong growth of the business’ mailing division over the last year and a half, citing the switch back by advertisers from internet marketing to direct mailing as a key driver.
The company is finding that their customers are buying smaller and more refined address lists and tasking the firm with creating more personalized mails that look interesting enough for people to open. The switch back by advertisers to mail in hand from the e-mail in inbox has proven fruitful for this company.
“We’re very proud of our business, our employees, our work ethic and our heritage,” said Swanson. “There aren’t many printing firms still around that were founded in the early 1900s. We have a very solid base of customers, some like Citadel Bank, from 1930. We have several accounts that have been with us for 25 to 30 years. We believe the Heidelberg half-size press will be key to our company’s continued growth in 2016.”
