China’s Ban Of DuckDuckGo More Compliment Than Threat

By

It may be more of a compliment than a threat, but the world’s second-largest economy has not only taken notice of the surging private search engine from Paoli, but it has banned access to DuckDuckGo within its borders.

China’s ban on DuckDuckGo was first noticed by Greatfire.org earlier this month, according to an iDigitalTimes report. The implications of the ban, however, are far less significant than the fact that it made it onto the communist country’s radar screen.

“Last year, search traffic in China by operators other than the top eight made up 0.06 percent. So, the DuckDuckGo ban in China is not likely to have too much of an impact on DuckDuckGo’s traffic,” the article stated.
