Daylesford Crossing A Stunning $25 Million Senior Living Community

By

Formerly the site of Jimmy Duffy & Sons Caterers at 1450 Lancaster Road in Berwyn, the old catering hall is there no longer, as the location is now the home of Daylesford Crossing, a $25 million 85,000 square foot development that provides 78 apartments for senior living.

With is modern and sleek look, the new development looks little like a senior living community, and more like a hip ultra modern development complex. This contemporary look was exactly what Sage Senior Living of Springfield was looking for when choosing the design for this senior living vision of the future.

Designed by Blackneys Hayes Architects and constructed by Norwood Co, the exterior of the development is contemporary with clean sharp lines and a few rustic touches. Opened in August, it already has 40 residents with the total number expected to reach around 90 helped by 60 employees.

Kelly Andress, the founder of Sage wanted to make a statement with this project by moving the industry away from drab or traditional looking buildings. With Daylesford Crossing, she describes it as more of “a cruise ship with a small hospital in it.”

Andress has seen the market change during her years overseeing various real estate projects while she was learning the business with Sunrise, her first job out of college. When she was ready, she started Sage with the aim of bringing her vision to reality

The development is designed to stay in tune with the changing times and the interior looks more like a hotel with a similar layout and amenities. The complex contains a bar with a daily happy hour, a variety of dining locations range from casual to formal and other places to gather. There is even an aquarium in the spacious lobby to welcome residents and visitors.
