
The YMCA’s childcare program provides children with a warm and supportive environment in which to grow and is designed to accommodate the needs of each individual child with experiences that foster development and build a positive sense of self-esteem.
As a YMCA Childcare Program Supervisor and Assistant, you are able to help develop the total child, with particular emphasis on educational, physical, emotional and social skills. Day to day duties include:
- Assisting the Childcare Site Director with planning and implementing all childcare activities
- Overseeing the safety and whereabouts of the children in the group at all times, providing a safe, interactive program
- Interacting with the children to encourage development and involvement in activities
- Mentoring children around the YMCA Core Values
The Program Supervisor should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services field or an Associates degree in the same fields with a minimum of 2 years experience working with school age children.
The ideal Childcare Assistant candidate will be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma, a GED and/or college credits and at least 2 years of experience working with groups of school age children.
Both the Program Supervisor and Childcare Associates will be expected to maintain a current DHS file, undergo a physical, and obtain and then maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of being hired.
