Siemens Health Services To Help Launch New Era For Cerner

By

As a government-spawned new era of hospital information technology dawns, Malvern’s Siemens Health Services deeply-rooted IT campus will refocus on the new vision and direction of a new owner.

Founded in 1969 as Share Medical Systems and bought by Siemens Health Services in 2000, the business fetched a $1.3 billion price tag from Cerner Corp.

Chester County’s third-largest employer, with 3,950 working in Malvern and an additional 1,850 scattered across client sites in 30 countries, Siemens Health Services will now help Kansas City-based Cerner delve into population health management, which “means that health care providers need to keep people on their radar who don’t come to the office,” Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO Neal Patterson said in a Philly.com report of the deal.

“We’re committed to the Malvern office and look forward to working with these associates,” spokeswoman Kate O’Neill Rauber said in the article.

The business is expected to add revenues of $1.2 billion this year to Cerner’s $2.9 billion figure from last year. Cerner Corp. anticipates closing on the deal in the first quarter of 2015.
