Just in time for the summer and lemonade season, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) will commemorate 10 years since founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004) challenged volunteers everywhere to help her raise $1 million for childhood cancer research, one cup of lemonade at a time. To continue Alex’s legacy, ALSF is once again inviting supporters everywhere to join the fight against childhood cancer during the National Lemonade Days Initiative, June 6-8.

Local businesses are also showing support and raising funds with other initiatives throughout the summer months.

The Rose Group which owns Applebee’s restaurants, will hold a Summer Squeeze promotion July 1-31.

From June 1-30 Rita’s Italian Ice will give customers a chance to purchase a paper lemon through a $1 donation. The funds raised will be designated to the Rita’s Fund of Hope, to help pay the travel expenses of families whose children are battling cancer.

Also, A.C. Moore stores along the East Coast will hold a fundraising drive June 23 through July 25, asking customers to donate $1 to ALSF during checkout And Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores will host in-store fundraising campaigns through July 31.
