Popular Ambler Wine Bar Dettera Serves Final Customers

Dettera Restaurant & Wine Bar in Ambler has closed after 16 years, leaving a lasting impact on the borough’s dining scene.

A longtime fixture in Ambler’s dining scene has officially closed, marking the end of a notable chapter along Butler Avenue, writes Robby Chakler for Wiss Now.

Dettera Restaurant & Wine Bar served its final customers over the weekend after roughly 16 years in business. Known for its extensive wine list and upscale yet approachable atmosphere, the restaurant became a go-to destination for date nights, celebrations, and gatherings in the borough.

Owners announced the closure ahead of time, giving loyal patrons a chance to return for one last visit. Many did just that, filling the dining room to share memories and toast the restaurant’s final days.

Chef Jeffrey Power reflected on the journey, thanking guests, staff, and supporters who helped shape Dettera into more than just a restaurant — a place rooted in community and connection.

While the Ambler chapter has closed, the team plans to continue its work nearby at Academy Grill, where they hope to build new memories with familiar faces.

The closure leaves a noticeable void in the heart of Ambler’s vibrant restaurant district.
