Birmingham Township Native Brings the Sweet Life to Chadds Ford with New Bakery

Tess Wofford

Pastry chef Tess Wofford, a Birmingham Township native and 2018 graduate of Unionville High School, has opened OSO Sweet, a bakery and café in Chadds Ford, writes Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Today.

The day she graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, Wofford got the keys to the former Chadds Café. And while she admits that opening during a pandemic has been daunting, she does not let it dissuade her.

“This is exactly where I’m supposed to be,” she said.

Among the breakfast treats on the menu are puff pastries with sausage, egg, and cheese. She also offers a Philly cheesesteak variety.

But it is the sweets that are her biggest draws. Wofford offers cookies like salted chocolate chip and peanut butter Oreos, among others.

Another fan favorite is her scones, especially the lemon blueberry recipe that, due to popular demand, came with Wofford from Chadds Café.

“Turns out it was a secret recipe,” said Wofford. “But the pastry chef was kind enough to share it with me.”

Wofford has numerous treats planned for the holidays, such as Yule logs and red velvet cake cookies.
