2026 VISTA NextGen Superstars: Andy Sinclair

Andy Sinclair, Assistant Professor and Chair of Business Analytics and Applied Technology at WilmU, joins the 2026 VISTA NextGen Superstars.

For Andy Sinclair, adaptability has been a way of life from the very beginning.

Born in Orlando, Fla., while his father was serving in the Navy, Sinclair grew up moving across the country, from Connecticut and Upstate New York to Chicago, Hawaii, South Carolina, New Jersey, Delaware, and now Pennsylvania.

“That experience exposed me to a wide range of people, places, and perspectives at an early age,” Sinclair said. “It shaped how adaptable and grounded I am today.”

Now living in Lincoln University, Sinclair serves as Assistant Professor and Chair of Business Analytics and Applied Technology at Wilmington University.

In his role, he oversees curriculum development, faculty coordination, program assessment, and accreditation initiatives, while also teaching courses in data visualization, analytics, and applied data science.

“What I enjoy most about my work is bridging academia and practice and bringing real industry problems into the classroom and using rigorous analytical methods to solve practical, high-impact challenges,” he said.

But his path to academia was anything but linear. A graduate of Delaware Military Academy, he initially attended the University of Delaware before entering the workforce in fraud investigation and casino surveillance.

After hitting a professional ceiling, he returned to school with renewed focus, earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Wilmington University and a master’s degree in Business Intelligence and Analytics from Saint Joseph’s University.

He is currently a doctoral candidate in Computer Science with a focus on Data Science at Florida Atlantic University.

In addition to his academic leadership, Sinclair founded RepoReport, a software company applying data science and machine learning to improve operational efficiency in the auto repossession industry.

Among his proudest accomplishments are being selected as a Fulbright Specialist and a Paul R. Lawrence Fellow — honors that reflect his commitment to applied, practice-driven research.

Sinclair says many mentors have influenced his career, but one stands above the rest.

“The person who has had the biggest impact on my career is my wife,” he said. “Her constant support, encouragement, and belief in me through the ups and downs have made everything I’ve pursued possible.”

When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him at Longwood Gardens with family and friends. And after recently checking off free diving with sharks, the next adventure on his bucket list is traveling to Antarctica and sailing across the legendary Drake Passage, which seems like a fitting goal for someone who has never been afraid to explore new horizons.

Sinclair and the rest of the 2026 Class of VISTA NextGen Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, Apr. 30, at the Penn State Great Valley Conference Center in Malvern.

Sponsors are still being sought for the VNS Awards Reception & Celebration, with a portion of proceeds benefiting this year’s nonprofit partner, the Chester County Opportunities Industrialization Center (CCOIC). A sponsorship offers unparalleled networking opportunities, enhances your organization’s visibility, and aligns you with a celebration of excellence and innovation. Learn more about the various opportunities available to partner with VISTA Today as it honors Chester County’s next generation of leaders, or contact Steve Knickerbocker at [email protected] or 484-437-2826.
