As president and co-owner of Penns Woods Winery, Carley Razzi is carrying on her family business with strong leadership and passion, writes Jamie Kleman for Town Square Live.
A second-generation winemaker, Razzi oversees all operations at the Chadds Ford winery in her cross-disciplinary role. She manages the winery’s overarching strategy and marketing, and also works closely with the winery’s hospitality team regarding the tasting room and day-to-day customer experience.
Razzi also coordinates winery events, partnerships, and oversees Pennsylvania vineyard sites for the winery’s grape sourcing.
Razzi’s passion for such a complex role is rooted in her family history. Her father Gino Razzi founded the winery in 2001 after working as a wine importer for years.
Carley became familiar with winemaking from a young age, spending time at the winery throughout her childhood. After receiving a degree in business management and marketing from Colorado State University, she returned to Pennsylvania to officially join the family winery in 2009.
In addition to Penns Woods Winery, Razzi contributes to the greater winemaking industry. She serves as member of the Wine Marketing and Research Board, and previously served as marketing chair of the Pennsylvania Wine Association.
But beyond winemaking, Razzi’s family connections remain strong as she continues to live in the Philadelphia suburbs with her children Olivia and Miles.
