The greater Chester County region is one of the best places to live in Pennsylvania according to the state’s top real estate experts, writes Lydia Mansel for Travel + Leisure.
Residents of all lifestyle needs can find their dream home across Pennsylvania’s wide-ranging rural and urban areas. In a recent evaluation, experts named Chester County and the Main Line as the fifth and third best places to live in the state respectively.
Beginning in Philly-area towns like Ardmore and Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia’s Main Line region stretches to Chester County throughout Wayne, Paoli and Berwyn. Ranked behind only Philadelphia and Erie, the Main Line region boasts upscale suburban living that attracts a range of lifestyles.
Charming downtowns and competitive school districts make the region a top destination for PA residents. Redfin describes the housing market as “very competitive,” with a median price of a Main Line home falling at $650,000.
Further West, realtors ranked the surrounding Chester County region as the fifth best place to live in the state. With a balance of rural landscapes and historic small-town charm, the expansive county offers something for everyone from young students to growing families.
Communities like West Chester, Downingtown, and Coatesville all remain within an easy commute to Philadelphia. The county remains a go-to favorite for realtor Mark Severns, who recommends Chester County for anyone wanting “a little more room and a high quality of life.”
