Chester County Hospital Encourages the Community to Start 2026 Strong with Winter Wellness Events

Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital is offering a variety of free and low-cost programs this winter to support the health and well-being of the community. From expert-led talks to hands-on classes, these Chester County Hospital events are designed to empower individuals with knowledge, skills, and resources to live healthier lives.

Thursday, Jan. 15 | 6-7:00 PM: Bones and Joints — Arthritis of the Hip and Knee

Join a board-certified orthopedic surgeon to learn about the latest surgical and non-surgical treatments for arthritis affecting the hip and knee, including medications, injections, small-incision joint replacement, and other state-of-the-art advancements. This is a virtual event; sign up here.

Monday, Jan. 19 | 1-2:00 PM: Breastfeeding Support Group

This is a free, supportive group for breastfeeding parents. Connect with other parents, share experiences in a non-judgmental environment, check your baby’s weight using our on-site scale, and receive personalized guidance from our board-certified Lactation Consultants. Topics include basic breastfeeding techniques, positioning and latching, troubleshooting common challenges, breastfeeding multiples, and continuing breastfeeding when returning to work or school. Thursday, Jan. 22 | 10-11:30 AM: Blood Pressure Screening at West Chester Area YMCA

Chester County Hospital offers free blood pressure screenings at locations across the region. No appointment is necessary. At this screening, registered nurses and other trained health professionals will check your blood pressure and provide educational resources to help you keep it under control. Location: West Chester Area YMCA, 605 Airport Road, West Chester.

Friday, Jan. 23 | 8:30 AM-4:00 PM: Youth Mental Health First Aid USA

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth ages 6-18. This training equips adults who work with youth with the skills needed to provide initial support and help connect children and adolescents to appropriate care. Participants must complete a two-hour self-paced online course prior to attending the in-person session. This class is presented by the Chester County Suicide Prevention Taskforce, and registration is required. The class will take place at Chester County Hospital, Rhoads Building Auditorium, 515 East Marshall Street, West Chester.

Tuesday, Jan. 27 | 1-2:00 PM: Diabetes Support Group

This monthly support group is for individuals living with the day-to-day challenges of diabetes. Participants and their family members are welcome to join for ongoing support, shared experiences, and updates in diabetes management. This session’s topic: Self-Care Is Not a Luxury: It’s Your Best Diabetes Management Tool. Presenter: Christina Gamez, MSN, RN-BC, EBPC, HTCP. Wednesday, Feb. 4 | 6-8:30 PM: Family-to-Family Program – NAMI

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, eight-week educational program for family members, significant others, and friends of individuals living with mental health conditions. This evidence-based program helps participants build coping and problem-solving skills and is led by trained volunteers with lived experience. Each session includes presentations, group discussions, and interactive activities, offering practical tools, education, and a supportive community. Recovery is possible, and there is hope. Presented by Sara Wein, classes take place at Chester County Hospital (Main Lobby Conference Room, 701 East Marshall Street, West Chester) and registration is required.
