A fire broke out the morning of Aug. 28 at Eagleview Town Center in Chester County, writes Beccah Hendrickson for 6ABC.
The multi-alarm blaze started around 1:45 AM near Wellington Road and Rice Boulevard in Uwchlan Township. The fire began outside the building, near the gas service area.
While initial reports pointed to a gas line rupture, officials later clarified that the fire was accidental and not caused by a gas leak. PECO shut off gas and electricity to nearby businesses in the Eagleview Town Center as a safety measure.
The fire damaged multiple properties, including Brickside Grille and Persis Indian Grill, both of which will remain closed for several weeks. The owners of Persis Indian Grill were seen surveying the damage on Thursday.
In response to the closure, Brickside Grille donated its remaining food inventory to the Chester County Food Bank.
“We got a lot of produce. We have some frozen items, some frozen pastas,” said Jose Frazier of the food bank. “A lot of people think Thanksgiving and Christmas, that’s when we get the majority of our donations, but hunger is every day.”
The fire marshal credited the building’s brick exterior with helping contain the fire. The exact cause remains under investigation.
