Philadelphia-based Punch Buggy Brewing is planning to expand into Chester County with a new taproom in Spring City that is expected to open by September, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
It was founded in 2019 by Rob Clark, Patrick Coyne, John Riley, Matthew Rowland, and Ryan Russo. The brewery currently operates its sole location in Olde Kensington after closing its short-lived second spot in South Philadelphia.
The brewery decided to open a new location after selling its beers at local farmers’ markets in the area for about a year.
In addition, Coyne is a Chester County native and wanted to leave the city’s saturated craft brewing market for the familiarity of the suburbs.
“You gotta go with what the market says and where the people go,” said Clark.
The new space will span approximately 2,000 square feet and seat around 35 people across the ground floor and basement. It will feature 12 beers on tap.
The taproom menu will be developed by Happy Bites, which also provides food for the original location, and will include smash burgers, hot dogs, wings, and much more.
