As part of a wider reorganization, QVC Group is relocating HSN operations from Florida to its West Chester headquarters and reducing its workforce by around 900 employees, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
According to the company, the layoffs are part of its transition from a multi-year turnaround plan to a growth strategy that focuses on expanding its legacy home shopping networks, QVC and HSN, while also ramping up its efforts in social media and streaming.
These cuts will affect HSN employees, as well as those working at QVC U.S. and the company’s global shared services division. The layoffs represent around a five percent reduction in the workforce.
“For many of these individuals, today will be their last day with QVC Group,” said the company on Thursday. “Some will continue working with us for several months, mainly to support the transition of the HSN broadcast and the St. Petersburg campus.”
While QVC Group did not provide a geographic breakdown of the impacted employees, it did however note that the closure of its HSN location in Florida is the main focus of these cuts.
