As she prepared to leave QVC after 13 years as a host, Jennifer Coffey found herself deeply relating to Hoda Kotb’s decision to depart from Today, writes Mike Vulpo for the US Magazine.
“I think of Hoda a lot and her departure and I’m thinking she’s probably going through a similar thing where she has her network of people and her family there that she had seen every single day, but for the most part, it was the camera,” said Coffey.
As hosts, both of their connections to millions of people happened in the digital and virtual worlds.
She related to Kotb about multiple elements, including having a network of strong viewers, a support team, their unusual schedules, and their goals for leaving.
Coffey, supported by a close-knit group at QVC – including her husband, Davinder Athwal, her daughter Gabby, and several dear friends – hosted her final show on Dec. 31, 2024. She made the decision to leave in pursuit of new opportunities. These have included launching The Phoenix podcast and starting The Phoenix Yoga Studio in Wayne.
She said she was thrilled by seeing more women take a leap into the unknown; retiring doesn’t have to be the biggest career change you make.
