Six Chester County towns have earned spots on the list of the most educated ZIP codes in Greater Philadelphia, write Joanne Drilling and Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Business Journals looked at over 12,000 ZIP codes nationwide, focusing primarily on educational attainment levels as reported in the latest U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.
Rankings were determined by the percentage of residents that have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Only ZIP codes with a minimum of 5,000 residents and $25,000 in per capita income were considered.
Devon ranked highest in fourth place, with 82.58 percent of residents holding at least a bachelor’s degree and $93,127 in per capita income.
Chester Springs followed in 11th place with 78.20 percent of residents having a bachelor’s degree or higher and $80,856 in per capita income. Wayne ranked No. 12 with 78.10 percent and $87,873 in income.
Berwyn came in 17th with 75.74 percent and $95,406, while Paoli ranked No. 18 with 75.07 percent and $80,913.
Malvern rounds out the list in 20th place with 73.31 percent and $84,133 in per capita income.
